Autumn 1975 Saks Fifth Avenue Documented Vampira Cape
I found this beauty in my hometown in Arizona and the moment I saw it I knew it was special. My initial research was a little puzzling because the label appeared to be the one which has been in use from 2007 until now. But the cape didn't feel modern-day to me so I kept searching. Finally I came upon the information that today's logo was directly inspired by Saks Fifth Avenue's 1973 one and I was finally on the right path. It wasn't long after that I struck the gold every vintage dealer hopes to find: actual documentation! Another colorway of this exact piece was featured on the cover of Saks' store catalogue, Folio, in the Autumn of 1975! So voilà, folks. The moral of the story is trust your instincts and persevere until you find what you know must be out there.
This cape is all about simple elegance. Made of a fairly heavy deep black wool, this piece consists of four panels which create pleats and movement galore! You can see in the photos how magnificently it falls from the shoulders but the video shows you how graceful that movement is! It has a collar which is pointed just enough to make me feel like some kind of vampire goddess when I put it on. If Vampira ever needed a warm cloak this would be the one! You can see the effect of the collar quite nicely in the Folio photo as well. It has a large hook and eye at the neck and thick strings to tie it securely in place.
It is indeed a deep black. I've lightened the photos a bit so you can see the details.
This piece is in absolutely flawless condition. I wonder if it was ever even worn really. It has just been waiting for its rightful owner!
There is no size label but I don't see why it shouldn't fit most sizes and body types. If you have any specific sizing concerns please don't hesitate to reach out. It is 45 in / 114 cm in length from the center back.

Shipping
How long will it take for my package to arrive?
Orders are typically shipped within 3 business days. If for some reason the delay will be longer, you will be informed. Once it's on its way, it normally takes 3 to 15 business days to arrive, depending on your location.
How is the cost of shipping determined?
The price of shipping in France is determined by the weight and thickness of the package. The heavier it is, the more it costs. If the package is under 3 centimetres it can be considered a "letter" and will be cheaper, but if it's over 4 centimetres it will be considered a package and cost more. I do my very best to stay under 3 cm and keep your shipping cost down but it is not always possible. (I charge the actual cost of shipping plus the percentage of the fees taken by the payment system. I do not take a profit from the shipping cost.)
Will I receive a tracking number?
Every package will come with a tracking number.
How can I see where my package is?
You can enter your tracking number on this site and it will show the status of your package.
