Souleiado Skirt - Vintage 1980s - South of France Provençal

This truly beautiful skirt from the house of Souleiado in the south of France will bring an authentic taste of Provence to wherever you are. I love the vibrant autumn colors on the white background. It's a perfect mid-season piece! I just adore everything vintage Souleiado. Their pieces are beyond beautiful. Souleiado's time-honoured designs have their origins in the 16th century, when vibrant Indian fabrics found their way onto the shores of southern France. Of course the real Indian imports were extremely rare and expensive, so people studied the techniques and began to produce their own versions. Beautiful patterns were carved into wood blocks and the fabrics were all hand printed using natural dyes. Souleiado is the oldest surviving maker of these "Indienne" textiles, established in 1806. It was taken over by the Demerys in 1916 and given the name Souleiado in 1939, which means “a ray of sunshine piercing through the clouds after the rain”. This skirt is from the 1980s. It's in perfect condition and gives such a lovely twirl! Measured flat, the waist is 35 cm / 13.5 in and the length is 50 cm / 19.5 in. Please don't hesitate if you have any questions!
